Hey every one we have produced a new you tube video check it out

When posting my viral video I took a fairly laid back approach and let the video promote it self for the first day or so.

I began by posting my video on you tube and them left a link to it on blogger and in the student chat room that same day. This alone has generated about 55 hits to my posted you tube video.

The second thing I did to promote my video was post a link to it on my face book page a week later, I have gained about 5 hits a day since posting, this has turned out to be a surprisingly stable generator of traffic.

The third thing that I did to promote my video was to personally show it to my friends and family, I had two screenings at my house and showed to about 15 people manually over the two weeks of the assignment.

Finally I have posted a HD version of the video on megaupload.com, and left the URL for the video on my face book and you tube account. So far about 20 people have downloaded the video.


An interesting trend that I have noticed about my video is that hits come in spurts, the video will have no hits regardless of what I do and yet get a lot of traffic all at once, This doesn't seem to coincide with what I do to promote it so there is a fairly random element to you tube popularity.
