John Dewey
Dewey brought about the idea of critical thinking as a form of reflective thought. He defined it as “active, persistent and careful consideration of a belief or supposed form of knowledge in the light of grounds which support it and the further conclusions to which it tends.” He was a proponent of considering origin and future position of things rather than just thinking about them and helped lay the roots for many other theorists with these ideas.
