Jean Kilburne
Jean Kilburne points out the objectification of women in media, specifically advertising, where the assumption is they are merely vessels and as consumers they have no contribution to make other than that of their beauty and stagnant place in social gender roles. Past advertising was based off woman's place in society, focusing on their dominion of the home, but this has evolved to not only box in woman's interest, but to objectify woman's bodies, depersonalizing them and leading to serious social consequences, such as a rise in sexual assault and violence against women.
