In Wallace Steven's Art, Entertainment and Entropy, he argues about the media's lack of creativity when airing a commercial, show, etc. As a conditioned response to these types of cliques, the audience fails to recognize the beauty and significance within the art. But with an endless use of repetition in such themes, the audience's response toward such media is alike. We are conditioned to recognize the genre by the sounds we hear or the settings in a movie.
What amazes me about Steven's critique is that he is right! The lack of creativity is slowly declining. Think of what websites are forming or what television shows or movies that are being viewed today! Twitter, Myspace, Facebook, and Friendster are all different social websites. But what really is the difference behind them? Think of the movies coming out today. Is there any movies that is NOT from a book? Where has imagination gone to? Has the power circuit finally been unplugged? With so many cliques,is that the new theme in this era? It saddens me that there are no stories that are not unique anymore. Just as "Twilight" came out and became popular, everyone wrote something to do with vampires. Creators need to CREATE something that will open the minds of others instead of copying the works of others.
